Club Atlético Osasuna was defeated at El Sadar against Getafe. The rojillo team took the lead just before half-time with a goal from Budimir, but the visiting team came back in the second half with two goals from R. Terrats.
In a tight first half, Osasuna was the team with the most possession and the most attempts on goal. The rojillo team tried to create danger mainly through attacks on both wings, but the dangerous crosses from Areso and, especially, Bryan found no takers against a well-organized visiting defense. On the other hand, Getafe looked to create danger through quick counterattacks. Rubén García and Bryan tried their luck with shots from outside the box for Osasuna, but the best chance fell to Juanmi from Getafe, whose shot was saved by Sergio Herrera with a great diving save. As the first half seemed to end with a 0-0 scoreline, Pablo Ibáñez played a great pass to Areso, who found Budimir alone in the heart of the box and was brought down as he was about to shoot. The referee pointed to the spot, and the Croatian converted to score his nineteenth goal of the season and make it 1-0.
In the second half, Getafe made two changes, took a step forward, and threatened the home goal. Boyomo had to clear a ball off the line that was creeping in despite Sergio Herrera’s attempt to deflect a close-range shot. Moments later, R. Terrats equalized with a precise shot from the edge of the box. Osasuna reacted quickly and, with the introduction of Aimar and Abel Bretones, managed to link up with Bryan and create danger. The rojillo number 19 had two chances to shoot after finding space, but he was first blocked by the defense and then by David Soria. Budimir also had an opportunity, but his header from a corner went wide. However, it was Getafe who found the second goal with a transition that R. Terrats finished. Osasuna continued to search for a goal, and Raúl, in his first play on the field, had a good opportunity, but his shot missed the target.
In the final stages of the match, Getafe was reduced to ten men after Uche was sent off for two yellow cards, but shortly after, Osasuna also went down to ten men as Bryan had to leave the field with a physical issue and all substitutions had been used. In the closing minutes, Osasuna had good chances with shots from Jose Arnaiz, Aimar, and Budimir, but the equalizer did not come.
The rojillo team will not play any official matches next week due to the FIFA international break and will face Athletic Club in their next match on Friday, March 28, at 9:00 pm.
