Osasuna fell (1-0) against Celta on their visit to the Estadio Abanca Balaídos due to a penalty goal in the second half converted by Iago Aspas.
The rojillo team started the match taking control of the game and managing to reach the local area with danger early on. Thus, in the first few minutes, Torró, Budimir, and Bryan had good opportunities to put 0-1 on the scoreboard. Both Rubén Peña and Abel Bretones managed to join the attack on both wings, allowing the team led by Vicente Moreno to find Budimir and Bryan up front, who had another good chance with a shot from the edge of the box that went wide of the post. In the final moments of the first half, Celta managed to relieve the rojillo pressure and approached Sergio Herrera’s goal, who had to make two interventions.
In the second half, Celta took a step forward and managed to threaten the goal, making Sergio Herrera make two great saves. Osasuna couldn’t find their rhythm and, ultimately, Celta took the lead through Iago Aspas, who converted a penalty. With the score against them and in the final minutes of the match, Osasuna revitalized with substitutions and sought the equalizer with attacks on both wings. Thus, in the final minutes, Jose Arnaiz and Boyomo had two good opportunities to level the score, but first Guaita and then a defender prevented the rojillo goal.
Osasuna’s next match will be on Sunday, March 2, at 9:00 PM, hosting Valencia at El Sadar.
